94 F Yesterday..

And 97 F expected today (and that's BEFORE taking the heat index into account - add anywhere between 5 and 8 degrees, depending on time of day and humidity levels).

Air quality is terrible.. alerts went out as early as 7 am this morning...

Monkeys are running around outside, almost naked, with super soakers. I filled an enormous storage bin with cold water, so they can 'go to town'. We'll probably try the pool next door a bit later today (but as the pool only opened last weekend, the water is probably still a bit 'chilly').

We'll do our best to stay cool and hydrated.. The potential for heat exhaustion is definitely there for Salamander (as while his ability to sweat seems to be getting 'on line', it's not where it needs to be), as are breathing difficulties for Potatey. So momma will be keeping a close watch on her chicks today.

(and if we need to take up residence in the third floor of my house, where I have a MONSTER AC unit, then that's what we'll do.. F#ck the electric bill).

It's typical New England summer.. freezing your a$$ off until end of May and then whammo, Heat Wave!!!!
