Persistance Does Pay Off....

Well, finally, after much Round Robin-ing (not sure this is even a word..) and calling and calling and calling, Salamander's sleep study has been scheduled. We (he and I) are going in on Monday eve November 10th.

Now let the mad 'prepare Salamander' & 'make sure I have overnite coverage for Potatey' scramble begin....

I hope the sleep study will give you another avenue to help your child be healthier. Sleep is the great healer.
To say that my Husband snores would be an understatement! He now wears a C-Pap at night and sleeps much better. When he had the study they woke him up after a few hours and said he was only sleeping a few minutes at a time before the snoring would interfere. He did not even have to spend the whole night there.
Good Luck

Congratulations!! I know this has been a battle for you. I hope you get the answers you need. It might help if he brings a favorite pillow, blanket, etc. to help him get comfy. I know that having you there will be the greatest comfort, but sometimes something else from home can really help.

Thanks ladies, for the thoughts and feedback.

Trust me, half of Salamander's bedroom wil go with us ()favorite blankets, pillows, stuffed animals..).
In fact, he and I had to sit down and cull his 'I want to bring this with me' list a bit, as it was turning into a 'let's move Salamander's entire bedroom to the hospital for one night' exercise..

:)

Salamander really took 'the news' well, especially once he realized that I'll be staying WITH him and will not be leaving him alone in the hospital. And the explanation why we need to have the doctors look at how he is sleeping helped too.

Here is what I said to him: "Mommy wants to understand why you are stil so tired in the morning, even after a long night of sleep. Sometimes, kids' brains have a hard time slowing down, and what happens then is that while your body is trying to sleep, your brain is still going full speed and is keeping your body from getting good rest."
Interestingly enough Salamander immediately said; "Oh, but I do get good sleep mommy. I have tons and tons and tons of dreams every single night, They are all fun dreams and I remember them all in the morning."
Well, I don't know about you all, but I may remember a dream once in a while. Certainly not 'tons and tons of them every single night.'

Potatey is not handling it so well, he dosen't like the idea that mommy and Salamander will not be with him during HIS night. Ah well, I'll manage to that too...

Any chance you and Potatey can have a special sleepover after the test? Maybe camp out in the living room for the night? Just something fun and special so he doesn't feel too left out.

Ya know what, Renee? I am not big on deviating from the usual sleep routines. We've had so many years here of NO sleep, and even now, whenever the boys go into detox, sleep is the first thing that goes right out the window.. I've had to be really strict on the 'everybody stays in their own room in their own bed during the nite' thing, otherwise nite time would turn into a total zoo (and I would get even less sleep than I already do).

But that being said, there are plenty of other fun, special, 'just Potatey and me' things I CAN do with him after we're through the sleep study ...
